Bossier Parish spans an area of nearly 900 square miles, which includes four municipalities: Bossier City, Haughton, Benton and Plain Dealing. The total population of Bossier Parish is 98,310 according to the 2000 Census, with the parish seat located in Benton, Louisiana.

Parish government includes the Bossier Parish Police Jury, the Bossier City-Parish Metropolitan Planning Commission and the individual governing bodies of each municipality.
