3,2,1 Launch!

Start off 2020 with a bang! The STARBASE Louisiana 2.0 students from Airline, Bossier and Parkway who participate in The American Rocketry Challenge (TARC) are a ‘go’ for launch at South Bossier Park from 3-5 p.m. Monday, January 13. Computer-Aided Design (CAD), rocket launch simulations, physics and mathematics all come together during this event. Come see the engineering design process in full swing as they complete several launches and make modifications in between. The team scores are turned in to TARC during the month of April, and this set of launches is their next step toward qualifying for the national finals in Virginia in May. The public is welcome to come cheer them on!

BYL Studies Healthcare/Cyber Fields

Bossier Youth Leadership participants will be immersed in the world of healthcare and learn how cyber technology plays an important role. Students will visit Ochsner LSU Health, General Dynamics and BPCC for deep discussions and an up-close look at healthcare, technology and job opportunities in both of those fields. Bossier Parish Student of the Year Announcements

It is one of the biggest announcements we make all year! Bossier Schools Superintendent Mitch Downey and his administrative team will surprise three students at the elementary, middle and high school levels with the news they have been selected as the District Student of the Year and will represent Bossier Parish at the regional competition. Be watching Tuesday morning on Bossier Schools’ Facebook page as we show up on the doorstep to these students’ schools.

Day of Service Awards and United Way Campaign Kickoff

Our students and school employees showed up in huge numbers for the October 19 Bossier Schools/United Way Day of Service, where they paid it forward by volunteering their Saturday to work at various non-profit agencies and charities. At 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, the United Way will host an ice cream social and awards ceremony to announce the winning teams that had the most spirit and volunteers. Bossier Schools will also officially kick off its annual United Way employee campaign.
