Centenary College hires Patrick Meehan as assistant athletic director for strategic communications

Shreveport native Patrick Meehan will join Centenary Athletics as assistant athletic director for strategic communications on August 5. Meehan will support and promote Centenary’s 15 current men’s and women’s athletic teams as well as assist with the launch of three new sports in the 2020-2021 academic year: men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s track and field, and competitive cheer and dance.

“In Patrick we’ve identified a professional who will strategically blend public relations, highlighting student-athletes and coaches across various digital platforms, and connecting with the campus and Shreveport-Bossier communities,” says Marcus Manning, director of athletics and recreation at Centenary. “We are excited to welcome Patrick to the Centenary Team.”

Meehan began his career in sports information at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he was a four-year student assistant with the LSU Sports Information Department and had the opportunity to work at major athletic events, including numerous NCAA baseball regionals and super regionals, the 2002 NCAA Division I Track and Field Outdoor National Championship, and two SEC men’s basketball tournaments. Meehan served as the primary contact for women’s soccer, men’s golf, and men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and was the secondary contact for baseball.
