CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Commissions New CEO As Leader of Faith, Health

Shreveport, Louisiana, Oct. 21, 2019 CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System and the Diocese of Shreveport welcome members of the media to join us for the Commissioning Mass and Celebration of Dr. T. Steen Trawick as our Chief Executive Officer on Wednesday, Oct. 23, beginning at 2:00 p.m.

This unique and sacred event will start with a Eucharistic Celebration and Commissioning at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (315 Marshall Street in downtown Shreveport). We have confirmed media’s ability to video/photograph inside the church for this event with special instructions from the church.

In Catholic health care, the commissioning of a senior leader is a crucial part of ensuring the faith-based principles of care and compassion are the foundation of the new administrator’s path and direction moving forward.

“It is an honor to be commissioned to serve as CEO of the CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System,” said Dr. Trawick. “I look forward to receiving God’s blessing from Fr. Peter Mangum during the commissioning and to receiving the support of CHRISTUS Health leaders and the people of this community.  I expect it will be a very moving and encouraging experience. The mission of CHRISTUS Health is to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, and at CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System we will continue to trust in God as a guiding hand in this organization while we seek to improve the quality of life for every patient, family member and Associate we serve. I look forward to the future ahead of us and for this wonderful community.”

Dr. Trawick started as CEO in August and has been associated with CHRISTUS in Shreveport since 2005. He previously served as Associate Chief Medical Officer for Sound Physicians, which employees more than 3,000 physicians.

A native of Monroe and graduate of Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Dr. Trawick has lived in Shreveport since attending and graduating Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, where he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He began his career as a private practice physician at Highland Clinic and has been on medical staff at CHRISTUS Highland since 2001. He left private practice in 2005 to become a Pediatric Hospitalist at CHRISTUS Schumpert, and he helped start the first adult hospitalist program at CHRISTUS Highland in Shreveport, where he also served as Chief of Staff from 2014-2015.

Active in local and state medical politics, Dr. Trawick has served as past President of Shreveport Medical Society and currently serves as a member of the Governor’s advisory board for Physician Assistants and Vice Speaker of the House of Delegates for the Louisiana State Medical Society. He is a former member of LSU Board of Supervisors and Louisiana State Board of Regents.

Dr. Trawick serves the community at large as well and is a part of the Shreveport-Bossier Committee of One Hundred, which is a committee of community leaders assembled to work toward common solutions and reduce redundancies and silos to address select issues by creating one voice for Northwest Louisiana to achieve a greater impact.
