Premature birth is the No. 1 killer of babies in the United States. Those who survive an early birth may have lifelong health problems such as cerebral palsy, vision and hearing loss, and learning disabilities.

The March of Dimes, the leading nonprofit organization for maternal and infant health, has worked for more than 75 years to help babies get a healthy start in life. About 4 million babies were born in the United States last year, and the March of Dimes helped each and every one through research, vaccines, education, and breakthroughs. Interested walkers and donors can visit marchforbabies.org to sign up as an individual or family, start a team, or donate.
