MARCH OF DIMES TO HOLD MARCH FOR BABIES ON SATURDAY April 27, 2017Member NewsJessica Hemingway (SHREVEPORT) – A baby’s first steps are one of the most precious moments in life, and the March of Dimes believes every baby deserves a healthy first step. Take your own first steps by joining March for Babies and make sure more babies get that chance. The Superhero themed, March for Babies is a 1.5 mile march that will be held at the Loyola Athletic Complex on Saturday, April 29, 2017. It’s a family-friendly event with inflatables, face painting, KnockerBall, kid’s crafts, food, and appearances by Disney princess’ Elsa and Anna, Belle and the Fairy Godmother, along with Spiderman, and SpongeBob. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. Don’t forget to dress as a superhero or wear your team’s March for Babies T-shirt. Money raised from the event goes to support research, services, education and advocacy in the fight against prematurity, birth defects and infant mortality. Premature birth is the No. 1 killer of babies in the United States. Those who survive an early birth may have lifelong health problems such as cerebral palsy, vision and hearing loss, and learning disabilities. The March of Dimes, the leading nonprofit organization for maternal and infant health, has worked for more than 75 years to help babies get a healthy start in life.
