Veterans Day: A day to thank those who serve

Bossier celebrating veterans with sunset ceremony

Veterans Day, originally started as Armistice Day to celebrate the end of World War I, is a day to pay tribue to all who have served in the U.S. military. Veterans Day is observed on Nov. 11.

The City of Bossier City and the Women Veterans of the Ark-La-Tex are hosting a Veterans Day Weekend Ceremony on Nov. 10, beginning at 4:15 p.m. The event, to be held at the Bossier City Veterans Memorial, will feature Chief Master Sergeant Shelley Cohen, Command Chief of the 307th Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base. Airline High School JROTC will present the colors. This event is open to the public. Seating is limited; lawn chairs are welcome.

SHOW SUPPORT: Businesses can show their support by changing their business marquee/signs to thank veterans for their service, OR offer a discount for those who have served in our military.
