Volunteer opportunities to benefit local youth

Did you know 33 percent of third grade students in NWLA aren’t reading on grade level?

You can change that by giving an hour of your time each week to read and mentor third grade students during the 2018-19 school year. Make a difference in your community!

Volunteers for Youth Justice

The GEMS & GENTS Mentoring Program works to address youth accountability, lack of youth guidance and adolescents transitioning into adulthood. The program works with at-risk and high-risk students ages 13-18 who are involved in the local juvenile court system.

To get involved, please contact Shonda Houston-Dotie at shonda.houston@vyjla.org or call 318-425-4413.
