This week with Bossier Parish Schools February 28, 2018Member NewsJessica Hemingway Here are a few of the GREAT events going on with our Bossier Parish Schools on Thursday: Thursday, March 1 Be B.R.A.V.E. Apollo Elementary 2400 Viking Drive Bossier City Noon Benton High School student Jillian Maxwell, who was crowned recently as Miss Louisiana High School America 2018, will be at Apollo Elementary to present Be B.R.A.V.E. — an anti-bullying platform. Jillian has started the company “Silly Socks by Jilly,” (www.sillysocksbyjilly.com) and for every pair of socks she sells, she will donate a book to elementary schools. She has sold enough socks to give books to each Kindergarten and 1st grade classroom in the district. Apollo will be the first school she visits to present the books. In addition, Governor Jon Bel Edwards has proclaimed March 1 as “Be B.R.A.V.E. Day” in Louisiana in recognition of Jillian’s national platform and anti-bullying campaign of the Miss Junior High, High School and Collegiate America Organization. Jillian is also the first student member of the Bossier Chamber of Commerce! STEAM Day at CME 600 S. Perrin St. Plain Dealing 8:45-12:45 Carrie Martin Elementary students will be exploring all-things-STEAM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math, during STEAM Day. Students will rotate through various stations from 8:45-12:45, engaging in numerous hands-on activities as they learn how STEAM is a part of their everyday life.
